Project overview

The Village of Ashwaubenon and City of Green Bay, Wis., have seen tremendous growth in the past 10 years. With a greater demand for retail and entertainment options in the community, developer AIG Baker decided to build a 16-acre retail village in Ashwaubenon. The company needed to partner with a local engineering firm to provide environmental due diligence, civil engineering and construction testing oversight for the project.

 

The Village at Bay Park opened in October 2005 and adds a new selection of retail shops to the community. The shopping center is one mile from Lambeau Field and across the street from Bay Park Square Mall – one of the largest shopping centers in Northeast Wisconsin.

 

Approach

STS provided a complete bundle of site development engineering services, starting with a geotechnical investigation, environmental due diligence and remediation. Next, STS completed an ALTA survey, building pad preparation and a foundation design solution.

 

As the project proceeded, STS responded to a number of challenges, including property line surveys, environmental issues, fill soil compaction and utility locations. STS worked closely with the contractors to provide timely solutions.

 

To comply with local regulations and the Department of Natural Resources regulations, we obtained construction permits and participated in Village board review meetings. STS also completed site engineering services, which included storm water and grading plan assistance. During the construction phase, STS provided construction staking and materials testing services.
