Shoreline protection
Waterfront property is a valuable asset to any community. Whether your waterfront is used for recreation or industry, it is important to safeguard this asset through such initiatives as shoreline protection. For over 30 years, STS has been providing this specialty design service. We have completed more than 50 projects for the United States Army Corps of Engineers, and private industry and municipal governments on and around the Great Lakes including:
- Six miles of Chicago’s Lake Michigan shoreline

We understand the public participation and stakeholder involvement processes typically associated with these projects. Our experience spans a range of coastal engineering activities from evaluation of lake levels and wave action in the near-shore environment to shoreline erosion and bluff recession studies.
STS employees are experts in the:
- Analysis of wave action, water level fluctuation, storm frequency and ice movement.
- Characterization of shoreline and lakebeds.
