Compliance audits
STS conducts compliance audits to determine how and if our clients’ facilities meet regulatory requirements and internal health and safety requirements. Compliance audits help clients identify areas for improvement and potential areas of non-compliance. Audits also provide an environmental “report card” that can be useful in securing financing, supporting divestitures, or other corporate transactions.
An audit includes a site visit with a facility walk-through, document inspections, and employee interviews. Site findings are then compared with terms that may be included in facility permits and with environmental regulations that may apply to the facility. Finally, STS prepares a summary report that includes the site findings, applicability of environmental regulations to the facility, compliance with terms included in facility permits, conclusions and recommendations.
STS compliance audit teams include certified staff members with a wide variety of expertise, which enables STS to address multi-media and multi-pollutant issues. We use a proprietary audit checklist to cover federal, state and municipal environmental requirements. This standard checklist is customized to the facility being audited.
